Description
The idea of the project was in providing reach an audience of enthusiastic, web-savy investors and financial services professionals that span the globe to banking and wealth management companies joined in comprehensive web directory. The main task was to make company listings conveniently organized by locations and categories and provide on site advanced database search function giving a quick, simple way for anyone to find targeted bank or financial company and familiarize with their services.

Bank and Financial Providers Search allows to search either by company name or by name of a person (banker), thus providing flexibility and increasing chances to find the targeted listing. With advanced search options the search can be limited to certain location and (or) company categories. Indexed search is performed with help of Apache Lucene engine.
Company account module includes profile management, banner management, marketing materials management and comprehensive reporting. With help of this module every company have a back-office area on the media portal for configuring all the aspects of their listing in the global directory.
Communication Channel offers possibility for site visitors to write their inquiries to the targeted companies through the system.
News and Market Monitor provides main page visitor with fresh market information and most recent financial news.
Knowledgebase contains financial glossaries and other financial related fundamental information. Visitors are allowed to submit their own financial definitions.

Technical Details
Banking Media Portal is a J2EE-based web application using MySQL 5.0 as a database server (while it is potentially capable of using other kinds of relational databases). The application runs under Linux family server with JBoss 4.0.
